KITTATINNY VALLEY STATE PARK
PROGRAMS & EVENTS

April - September 2012

*PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED BY 3:30 PM OF THE DAY PRIOR TO THE PROGRAM DATE.  Please call (973) 786-6445 to register.  Programs are free of charge and meet at the visitor center located 1 mile north of Route 206, off Goodale Road in Andover Township, unless otherwise noted.  Please be prompt – programs start at the time indicated.  Adults must accompany children at all times.  Pets are not permitted during most programs.  In case of inclement weather, all participants are urged to contact the visitor center to determine whether programs have been cancelled or rescheduled. 
All programs are subject to change.

THE STRANGE WORLD OF REPTILES

Family program – all ages.  Live animal show investigating the four different groups of reptiles.  Most of the seven animals featured can be touched under the watchful eyes of our instructor. The finale will be a juvenile American alligator and an amazing 9-foot (or bigger) Burmese Python!

Family program – all ages.  Live animal show featuring “prey” animals such as the skunk, porcupine, and armadillo that have developed amazing characteristics to avoid becoming a predator’s “lunch.”  Learn how they defend themselves...when animals attack!

THE MAGIC OF MONARCHS
11:00 AM – NOON
For children ages 6-12.  Spend a year in the life of a monarch butterfly, from egg to caterpillar, to chrysalis, to adult, and find out why milkweed is important to monarchs while visiting our butterfly garden.
