Directions:
Take I-287 or Route 22 to the intersection with Route 202 in Somerville. Follow Route 202 south for 26 miles to the exit for Route 29 north. Go north for about 6 miles. The entrance is on the left.

Keep Your Recreation Area Clean

Through the Carry-In/Carry-Out Program you can help us keep your parks clean and beautiful by carrying out the trash you carry in. Bags are provided throughout the site. Thank you for your cooperation and remember to recycle.

Park Hours

Open daily sunrise to sunset.
Office Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Park Advisory

Day Use Area and Pedestrian Bridge to Pennsylvania is open.

Fireman's Eddy, Lambertville, Bulls Island, Byram and Kingwood boat launches are open.

Due to significant storm damage the park camping area will be closed for the remainder of the 2011 camping season.

Towpath users can travel from Alexandria Township south to Fireman's Eddy. Then River Road in Titusville south to Trenton. Towpath closure is due to emergency repair work of Workhouse Spillway. Please do not enter construction zone.

Effective 11-15-2010 the Scudders Falls parking area will be closed for needed NJDOT bridge repairs. The parking areas will be closed for the duration of the repairs.  Plan alternate parking locations.

Effective 01-03-2011 the Lower Ferry Road bridge will be in the process of repair also by NJDOT.


Bull’s Island Natural Area (24 acres)

This natural area comprises a portion of a small forested island surrounded by the Delaware River and the Delaware & Raritan Canal. A trail along the towpath of the canal reveals a lowland floodplain forest dominated by sycamore, silver maple and tulip poplar. Several rare plant species are found in this natural area.

Alcohol is prohibited. Pets are prohibited in overnight facilities.

Group wilderness campsites: accommodates 7-25 people. No tables or grills provided. Modern restroom facilites with showers. Open April 1 through October 31. New Jersey Residents: $3 per person, per night; Non-Residents: $5 per person, per night.

Campsites: 44 tent and trailer sites with fire rings, picnic tables, flush toilets and showers. Campsites open April 1 through October 31. New Jersey Residents: $20 per night; Non-Residents: $25 per night.
