Benefits of Trees

J. Sterling Morton organized the first Arbor Day in 1872 in Nebraska where over one million trees were planted across the state. In 1884, New Jersey celebrated its first official Arbor Day celebration. By the 1920's each state had a law designating Arbor Day. Arbor Day in New Jersey is celebrated annually on the last Friday in April.

"Arbor Day is not like other holidays. Each of those reposes on the past, while Arbor Day proposes for the future." -Julius Sterling Morton
